Katlyn and Matt’s journey from engaged to married happened faster than a tide change in Juneau, and it was nothing short of magical. Their adventure started with a surprise proposal and ended with vows exchanged in the heart of the Tongass Rainforest—barefoot, wild, and completely in the moment.
With no cell service or WiFi thanks to a city-wide communication blackout (shoutout to the under-ocean wire mishap!), we relied on trust, timing, and a whole lot of spontaneity. And somehow, it all unfolded perfectly.
The Adventure Begins
Matt popped the question, and Katlyn said yes—and they planned their elopement for the next day! So we set out on an elopement adventure that took us across Juneau’s most stunning landscapes.
From the misty cascades of a North Douglas waterfall to the rugged shoreline of North Douglas Beach, the couple embraced the wild beauty of Alaska at every turn. The Powerline Trail offered sweeping mountain views, while the Amalga Waterfront and Rainforest Trails wrapped them in the deep greens of the Tongass.
Barefoot & Beautiful
Katlyn’s elopement look was effortless and enchanting—a white dress embroidered with delicate florals, flowing freely as she walked barefoot through the rainforest. No heels, no fuss—just pure connection to the earth and the moment.
Of course, what’s an elopement without a little last-minute magic? Between impromptu dress alterations and the kind of planning that relied on “just show up and hope we’re all in the right place,” it was an adventure in every sense of the word.
