Some weddings are loud and fast paced. Others feel quiet in the best possible way — intentional, emotional, and deeply personal. Kayzeah and Ivan’s intimate April 2026 wedding at Aldersheim in Juneau, Alaska was exactly that. Their day unfolded slowly alongside the water, surrounded by close family, soft spring light, and the kind of calm that only Southeast Alaska seems to create. Aldersheim was the perfect setting for an intimate wedding: tucked into the trees with sweeping ocean and mountain views, while still feeling warm and personal.
The evening carried that unmistakable early spring feeling in Alaska — golden light stretching across the water, cool air coming off the ocean, and the sun lingering just long enough for portraits along the rocky shoreline. The details of the day felt simple in a meaningful way. A floral cake decorated with hand piped spring flowers sat glowing in the afternoon sun. Their ceremony overlooked the water with mountains fading into the distance behind them. Family gathered close, not as spectators, but as part of the experience itself.
One of my favorite parts of photographing intimate weddings is how much room there is for genuine moments to happen naturally. There is time to breathe. Time to laugh. Time for quiet pauses during the ceremony. Time for the couple to actually experience the day instead of rushing through it. Kayzeah and Ivan fully leaned into that feeling.
Their sunset portraits along the shoreline felt cinematic in the soft evening haze. The veil caught the wind perfectly while the mountains faded into silhouette behind them. Instead of focusing on elaborate timelines or large production moments, the entire day centered around connection — and those are always the weddings that photograph most honestly.
There were emotional moments woven throughout the evening: walking down the aisle with family, exchanging rings as the sun reflected off the water, quiet smiles during the ceremony, and candid laughter during dinner under the tent afterward. As the light faded, the atmosphere shifted into something even softer. Their portraits became moodier and more cinematic as the sun dropped behind the mountains, creating some of my favorite images from the entire evening.
Aldersheim continues to be one of the most beautiful intimate wedding venues in Juneau for couples wanting an Alaska wedding that feels both scenic and deeply personal. The combination of ocean views, forest surroundings, and peaceful privacy creates an incredible setting for smaller weddings and elopements.
Kayzeah and Ivan’s wedding was a reminder that intimate weddings are some of the most emotional and meaningful celebrations of all.
Congratulations again to these two. It was an honor documenting your evening.
